TDS in the Community Jason Cormeny-Relay For Life

Jason Cormeny began his career with TDS as a part-time employee in July 2011 during his final semester in the Building Construction Management program at UNF. Cormeny previously worked for a Design Build Architect for 11 years where he was an Architectural / Construction Project Manager.

Aside from being a full-time employee and a key member of the TDS team, Jason is heavily involved in Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. In 2009 Jason’s father, Terry, was diagnosed with cancer. While it was a total shock to Jason and his family, they were eager to get help with treatments and care. After Terry’s consultation with the Oncologist, the Cormeny family found hope. The Cormeny family was fortunate enough to learn that the cancer was found in the early stages and it had not spread. Terry now had the option of traditional treatments of radiation and chemotherapy or a new robotic surgery technique that was still in the experimental stages. Terry elected to have the robotic surgery. Six months after the treatment the Cormeny family learned that Terry was cancer free! After breathing a sigh of relief the Cormeny family searched for a way to help other families fight cancer.

Jason and his family formed a team with the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of World Golf Village and started raising money for more research and treatment options for this deadly disease. Jason recently learned that the money raised in the 2006 & 2007 Relay events funded a grant to develop the robotic surgery technique that was used on his father. Since developing a team in 2009 the Cormeny family now participates with both Relay For Life of World Golf Village and Relay For Life of St. Augustine where Jason has been on the Event Leadership Team for the past 5 years. Together the Cormeny family team has raised $5,000 to help find a cure for cancer.
